The Ultimate Kraken Hunter Semi Final
From amongst the legions of fierce, inked bartenders across the UK, The Black Ink Society has been searching for the 'Ultimate Kraken Hunter'. A cocktail competition like no other, our search for the Ultimate Kraken Hunter entails not only finding a quaffable cocktail full of personality and quirkiness, but one made by a suitably inky, uncompromising Kraken Hunter.
The competition launched in December with the portrait of first finalist, Stuart Powick from Fifty Five Bar, Camden with media partners Imbibe magazine.
The semi final, hosted in February at Hotel Pelirocoo in Brighton, saw 10 contestants from Abderdeen, London, Leeds and Sheffield, battle it out for the remaining final 5 places in the final.
The semi finalists will find out if they are in the final if their portrait is printed in Imbibe.

The Kitschies, presented by The Kraken
The Kitschies literature award for progressive, intelligent and entertaining writing in the Sci-Fi and Fantasy community has received huge national press. Last year's winner, China Miéville for his book 'Kraken' was in attendance at the Steampunk event held at Blackwell’s, Charing Cross.

The Kraken's 8 Tentacles of Christmas Competition
Throughout December, the Kristmas Kraken has been giving away his 8 tentacles. Each tentacle has been draped with gifts, from a night out in Soho to a Classic Rock magazine subscription to the premium jewel gift; a unique Great Frog / Kraken skull ring.
The ring, which is currently unavailable for purchase, is based on the classic skull design with the Kraken's tentacles creeping around. Congratulations to Ian Rout who was lucky enough to win this priceless tentacle!

Kraken Black Spiced Rum at Classic Rock Awards
In November, Kraken was a proud sponsor of Classic Rock's Roll of Honour Awards 2011.
The Kraken invaded the event, as it always does, with a slick, Victorian-esque bar serving Kraken shots and the Perfect Storm to the rock 'n' roll royalty that was invited to the event. Stars such as Lemmy, Gene Simmonds and the legends that are Steel Panther all graced the bar with their presence.
Kraken was the sponsor for Best New Band which was won by the fantastic blues band, Vintage Trouble. Follow the link to see their acceptance of the award.
